Stop undue haste on WTO

With meltdown of the export-based economies, it is now clearly evident that Swadeshi is the only way to development. Just a few days back leader of the opposition Lal Krishna Advani had already conceded that India could develop only by adopting Swadeshi Model of Development. Right from its inception, SJM has always been reiterating that India can develop only on the basis of its own resources, scientists, farmers, workers and Indian industries especially small and cottage industries. S. Gurumurthy, co-convener, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, today charged that Sonia Gandhi and UPA government that have vested interest in protecting corruption can never take action on the front of prosecuting those who have stashed money in tax havens in foreign country.

When they themselves have their money in foreign countries how can they be expected to act to disclose the names of those having illegal foreign accounts, he asked a jam-packed speaker’s hall at the constitution club.

Apprehension expressed by SJM about Government’s all out efforts to pave the entry of multinational corporations into retail sector are proving to be well founded. In January, 2006 the government opened up the single brand retailing for multinational corporations. These MNCs had already made inroads into the multi brand retailing in the name of cash and carry by backdoor in the guise of wholesale trade.
